84-year-old Queen Elizabeth II seems to be a very modern ad distinguished lady. She has an iPod, she has brought a royal flavor on Twitter, Flickr and Youtube, and now Queen Elizabeth has joined Facebook. 113,000 people have hit the ‘Like’ button so far, as “The British Monarchy” page went live on Facebook on Monday. The site is already showing lots of photos of the Royal Family and will provide news and updates on the activities and schedule of the British Monarchy.
Although people can hit the ‘Like’ button, you can’t ‘Poke’ or befriend the Queen. The site is run by a media team ,which decided to allow people on Fcebook to leave comments on the photo albums showing the royalty.
An official spokesman said that the Queen herself approved the site, but she won’t use it :” The decision went right up to the Queen. If you are going to have an online presence in 2010, you just have to be on Facebook.”
